We all want to live vibrant healthy lives. I got into Energy Medicine because I wanted to feel more balanced and grounded when I started into peri-menopause. I wanted to understand how my body worked. I got hooked on Energy Medicine because it worked.
I was in my late 40s and into peri-menopause. At times, I felt like my thoughts and emotions had been taken over by an alien force. And in a way, they had. Like a skiff tossed on the ocean, I was rocked by waves of anxiety that would swell up into obsessive, fearful thoughts of catastrophic scenarios completely unrelated to my daily life. I had read about hormone imbalance so I had some perspective, but I didn’t know how to stop the relentless crash of the waves.
I began searching for something to help. On a trip to Kelowna, I found Energy Medicine by Donna Eden and David Feinstein at Mosaic Books. It was one of five self-help books in the store and it jumped out at me. (I was always glad for that Kelowna trip – I don’t think I could have pinpointed my perfect book among the busy self-help sections in Nelson bookstores.) A quick browse of Energy Medicine convinced me that the information was credible and straightforward. My eyes were drawn to a tip for reducing anxiety by tapping a specific point on my hand – the gamut point. I bought the book and decided to tap my hand every time the fearful feelings would come over me.
It took 4 months of repetition – and I stopped the waves! I would tap the gamut point on my hand every time I became aware of a wave of anxiety. I committed to doing it regularly. Every time I felt a wave coming on, I would tap this point on the back side of my hand halfway between my wrist and fingers aligned with where the 4th and 5th fingers converge. I would do this for about a minute. After about a minute the feelings would subside and I would yawn or sigh. After 3 or 4 months I noticed I wasn’t having the crazy thoughts any more. I looked back and estimated that my anxiety had dropped by about 80%. Within another couple of months the rest just faded away as I’d read might happen.
When I told my doctor’s locum that I’d managed to get rid of menopausal anxiety in a few months with a simple self-care technique, she was highly impressed. It seemed this wasn’t a common experience. I became determined to learn more about Energy Medicine and the work of Donna Eden.
That was in 2008. At that time, I had no idea that Eden Energy Medicine (EEM) would become my passion and my calling. I just wanted to know more about Donna Eden’s exciting world of holistic healing that had helped me as well as many thousands of other people including Donna herself. I’m excited to be launching my energy medicine practice to bring this wonderful world of energy healing to you.
If you would like to try this exercise, it’s very simple. You just tap the point on the back of your hand half way between your wrist and the webbing between the 4th and 5th fingers in line with the webbing. I usually use 3 fingers to tap: it feels good to me and I have more confidence I’m tapping the right point. You can tap each hand in sequence if it feels right for you – I just tapped my non-dominant hand.
